Mego ST:TMP

Mego made more toys based on Star Trek The Motion Picture than any other toy maker, from 3 3/4 inch figures and playsets to mammoth 12 inch figures. Perhaps trying to make up for passing on Star Wars?

Mego’s line of 12 1/2 inch figures based on Star Trek: The Motion Picture. These toys are really well detailed, and pretty easy to find, which is why I will never understand the crazy eBay prices people ask for them.

Mego also had a line of 3 3/4 inch figures and a playset for the movie. The figures were very much like the Star Wars figures that Kenner had produced, with neck, shoulder and hip joints.

The coolest toys Mego made were a set of ships based on the movie. The ships varied between 6 and 8 inches in length, but were super accurate to the film. The ships included a Klingon Bird of Prey, The Enterprise, and the Vulcan Shuttle. I’ve been told these toys were only available in Canada, but true or not, they are nearly impossible to find.

Last, but not least, is Mego’s wrist communicators. They’re cool. ‘Nuff said!
